The Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's, are getting ready to begin their 13th season. During ten of the last twelve seasons, we have ranked at the top nationally in attendance, setting new all-time records for the Pacific Coast League in the process. This past season, more than 700,000 fans attended River Cats home games. Raley Field has been the toast of the region since its debut in May of 2000. With a seating capacity of 14,014, it features 36 luxury suites, 2,500 club seats, a stadium club, multiple group party areas, children's playground, a giant HD video board and an impressive audio/visual production center.
In addition to our attendance records, we have won four Pacific Coast League Championship (2003, 2004, 2007, 2008), played host to the 2005 Triple-A All-Star Game, won a Triple-A Championship (2007 and 2008) and continue to send many players onto the Major Leagues.
The River Cats & Raley Field is looking for twelve (12) dynamic, driven individuals to complete work in the area of Grassroots Marketing, while assisting the Promotions Team and Advertising Manager. We are seeking bright, outgoing, friendly and talented, individuals to join our staff of seasoned industry professionals. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Advertising Manager with various research efforts and help in the development of the grassroots marketing plans for the River Cats and Raley Field Events and Entertainment Departments.
Assisting in the creation, organization, and execution of various Grassroots Marketing initiatives for the Sacramento River Cats and Raley Field.
Assisting and coordinating any non-traditional marketing efforts (distributing flyers/pocket schedules/mascot appearances and creating flyers for these events).
Representing the River Cats and Raley Field at various events in Sacramento area, and assisting in the fulfillment of sponsorship commitments through promotional initiatives.
Other duties as determined by the Advertising Manager.
The qualified candidates will be able to successfully manage multiple, time-sensitive projects, as well as have a willingness to work odd hours. Hours can be flexible; however a minimum of 20 hours per week are requested. Additional duties and assisting various departments will be required as needed. We are looking to hire immediately for the off-season; however we will be offering other in-season internships in February. Length of internship will be determined by hours worked per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Willingness to work some nights and/or weekends

Description
Penske Technician II will generally assist in the repair and diagnosis of major components or remove/replace major components at the direction of Lead Technician or Maintenance Supervisor. Expectations include the ability to diagnose and repair the following with little or no supervision: Clutches, PTO Systems, Electric Systems, Hydraulic/Air Brake systems, Heating/Air Conditioning Systems, Instruments and Gauges, and Preventive Maintenance Service.

Major Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of - with some assistance: Engines (gas and diesel), Power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, PTO's and wheel ends, Electrical systems including starters and alternators, HVAC systems, Steering systems, Electronics to include ECM's, ECU's, sensors etc., Engine bolt on items such as turbos, fan clutches, injectors, cooling system etc., Brake systems including ABS, Suspension systems (spring and air)
- Perform mechanical and general appearance reconditioning of equipment for "trade-ins" and prepare new equipment for delivery.
- Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units
- Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services
- Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order
- Maintain work area appearance and safety
- Road test Vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
- Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
- Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
- Specialize in repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmissions and differentials, to include replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components etc.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Vocational/Technical or certification preferred
- Specialized training in the repair and replacement of vehicle components preferred
- Proficiency in the use of shop tools required
- A valid drivers license is required
- Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred, willingness to acquire CDL if you do not have one.
- Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems.
- Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions required
- Willingness to travel as necessary within the district (customers yards, close geographical area and training sites), work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required

Associate Store Team Leader in Training (FASTL) at Whole Foods Market! (Sacramento Metro)
The Associate Team Leader in Training (FASTL) is partly responsible for overall store operations. This is a training position for Associate Store Team Leader, however candidates are selected for their potential to be the the Store Team Leader. This position has 16 hours a week dedicated to specific training activities . This position requires completion of various projects and assignments to successfully complete the program. 24 hours a week will be on-the-job work dealing in ASTL functions such as, training, orientation, safety, store operations, financials, etc. This position reports directly to the Store Team Leader but also has a dotted line reporting relationship to the head of Performance & Talent Management. There will be required reporting information structured to ensure all assignments for program are completed. At the end of the program, this position will be able to apply for or be assigned to any ASTL position in the region within a designated geographical area (e.g. East Bay, South Bay, etc.). Community Science Project Coordinator/Education Specialist (Davis, CA)
Join the team at Explorit Science Center, a non-profit, hands-on science museum located in Davis, CA serving children and their families.Explorit is seeking a dynamic, energetic individual to teach hands-on science programs and to coordinate our newest program, the Community Science Project.
Responsibilities:
Community Science Project Coordinator (80%) - Develop, implement and evaluate a community science project and other special projects in this and subsequent years as funding allows including the following key components:
* Develop community science project kits, and written materials.
* Recruit sponsors for events.
* Develop, implement and evaluate on site Family Explorations (FE) programs providing hands-on science education opportunities for families as assigned throughout the year related to Com. Science Project topic.
* Develop and monitor month-long social network campaign encouraging at-home community science project exploration which includes; instructing public on how to conduct independent research activities and report findings to Explorit; constructing, installing, and monitoring same research activity at Explorit as model; compile, analyze, and prepare summary of data for public consumption.
* Schedule, organize, and serve as key contact person for the monthly Cutting Edge of Science Lectures Series (CELS) related to Com. Science Project topic. Identify and coordinate venue, identify speaker (arranging for speakers transportation, lodging, and security needs, if needed). Set up for lectures on the third Tuesday evening of April -- October. Introduce speaker and be present as designated Explorit staff person during each lecture. Process ticket sales for event.
* Develop, and coordinate off-site Grand Finale Community Science Project Event.
* Coordinate Family Festivals as assigned throughout the year related to Com. Science Project topic. Festivals are larger scale FE programs involving multiple guests and activity stations inside and around the Explorit facilities.
* Create marketing materials and publicize events including Family Explorations and Festivals, Cutting Edge Lectures, and Grand Finale Community Science Project event using various social networking sites, newspapers, enews, and setting up booth at community events such as Farmer's Markets.
* Write 2 newspaper articles per month related to Community Science Project topic.
* Ensure personal communication with presenters(s) for each public program and issue "thank yous" to event presenters.
* Recruit, train and coordinate work of volunteers, as needed and appropriate for each program/event.
Education Specialist (20%)
* As scheduled by Explorit, prepare for and present outreach programs including family science nights, exhibit public hours and other programs as assigned. Ensure personal communication with each contact person for every outreach program at least one week in advance of each program.
* Maintain all program materials in excellent condition. Report any problems to the Program Manager.
* Develop and teach Explorit programs as directed by the Program Manager.
Requirements
* Bachelors degree in education, museum studies, a science field
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in educational programming
* Effective oral and written communication skills
* Excellent classroom management skills
* Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships and in meeting and working with all levels of staff, volunteers, and the public
*Ability and willingness to work evenings and on weekends
*Project management and or event planning experience preferred
Position details
This is a full time, non-exempt position with hours expected to be approximately 35 to 40 hours per week. Some seasonal fluctuation in hours is possible and program demands require flexible scheduling of time throughout the year.
