Part-Time Sales Specialist (Reuben H. Fleet Science Center)
General Job Description:
The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, the popular hands-on science museum in historic Balboa Park, is seeking a part-time Client Services Sales Specialist. The Client Services Sales Specialist supports the efforts of the Senior Manager, Group Sales & Special Events and Client Services Manager by promoting the use of our facility to groups via phone and email correspondence.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities, including mental requirements of position:
1. First primary responsibility is to assist with special events sales efforts by contacting prospective clients via telephone (warm leads and "cold calls").
2. Answers inbound calls and emails directed at the Special Events Department or Client Services Department and responds to potential clients regarding group sales, special events, birthday parties, and catering requests.
3. Researches names and contact information of businesses and groups in or around San Diego County and works to build an ever-growing list of potential clients with accurate contact information.
4. Regularly searches the websites of CONVIS, San Diego Convention Center, and other similar sites with information regarding upcoming large groups visiting San Diego. Contacts visiting groups to promote the use of the RHFSC for offsite meetings/events during the group's visit to San Diego.
5. Assist the Special Events Coordinator with the booking of the Theater, Science Center, Lecture Hall, and Community Forum for private screenings, parties, lectures and other functions, including initial contact with the client, quoting prices, and receiving necessary paperwork.
6. Work to increase event revenues under the direction of the Senior Manager, Group Sales & Special Events.
7. Responsible for ensuring the data in the Master Calendar regarding upcoming events is always up to date and contains the most accurate and thorough information available at that time.
8. Regularly contact previous customers to encourage future bookings and keeps an accurate log of all contacts made including the progress of each lead.
9. Execute and enforce all Special Events standards as established under the leadership of the Senior Sales Manager.
10. Responsible for understanding all Client Services procedures and will answer phone calls and book group sales as necessary under the direction of the Client Services Manager or Senior Sales Manager.
11. Maintain client list using our in-house CRM computerized database. Regularly enters data into this database and ensures that the database is accurate and organized.
12. Trains the Business Development Intern(s) and Special Events Intern(s) at making phone calls and assists with the support and development of the internship program.
13. May work special events and assist with set-up, breakdown, and operations during the event as assigned by the Senior Sales Manager.
14. May attend events industry networking events as requested by the Senior Sales Manager.
15. Supports other department functions as requested by supervisor.
16. Responsible to be knowledgeable of safety and emergency plan manual procedures.
17. Works a varied schedule, including evening and weekend hours, as required.
18. Attend Employee Training Program.

Tools and equipment used to perform this position: personal computer, ticketing system and telephone.
Basic Selection Factors:
One year experience in a customer service position which involved sales.
Experience with contacting customers via outbound phone calls.
Strong business writing skills and experience with email communication.
Knowledge of special events industry is helpful.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to handle multiple functions and deadlines in a timely and organized fashion.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
College degree preferred, but not required.
Must be able to respond quickly, respectfully, and efficiently to varying management styles during a special events operation.
Must be able to receive constructive feedback and work to improve performance in a timely manner.
Must be able to maintain focus during very busy periods.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends, as needed.

Requirement: Must have worked in a veterinary hospital and have more than 3 years of veterinary technician experience. RVT preferred. We are looking for a long-term commitment.
Duties will include but not be limited to: obtain and enter information for computer registration of pets and clients, schedule appointments, complete and maintain digital medical records and logs, answer phones and take detailed messages, address client concerns without diagnosing, ensure clients and hospitalized pets are clean and medicated as directed, clean and maintain the hospital, perform daily equipment maintenance, fill prescriptions, restrain animals, assist doctors during examinations and surgeries, place catheters, draw blood and run CBC, Chemistry panel, Electrolytes and Coag tests, give injections, intubate, monitor vital signs of hospitalized or anesthetized pets, take radiographs, prepare for procedures, follow safe techniques and protocols, train other staff, and provide exceptional communication to practices referring to us.
