Entrepreneurial Intern Needed (no BS work) (Chelsea)
If you've ever wanted to start your own company, either now or in the future, this might be the most important "ad" you've ever read.Have you ever taken an intern position or job to learn things only to find yourself filing crap, answering the phone or getting other people coffee?
If you REALLY want to learn what it's like to start an Internet based business from scratch, you'll find this environment extremely exciting.
We are a new company with a revolutionary security product that protects women and teens on the Internet. We're in stealth mode now, meaning that we're pretty secretive of what we're doing. But when you meet us for an interview, we'll obviously disclose further details.
We are currently still raising money but we're almost ready with our first software launch. This is an important milestone because one thing you'll learn here is how to bootstrap, meaning how to be creative and raise money while still growing the company. You'll learn how to do this and you'll actually be part of it at the same time.
Currently we're looking for just one person to join our team. What are we looking for? Actually, we're looking for someone who has some entrepreneurial traits.
Here's a few:
Take ownership of your work. There are times where we might be in the office and there are time where we won't be. It's important that your work gets done regardless. Too many people these days have the mentality of "the boss is here so I better work. . .and now the boss is gone so I can hang out on facebook all afternoon." It's what I call an employee mentality and no one makes it as an entrepreneur with that attitude. To be completely honest, I really don't care if you're on facebook all day as long as the your work gets done. If that motivates you and keeps you excited, then great. You're totally free to do whatever you need to do.
Have an appetite for learning. Speaking of facebook, let's say I put you in charge of creating a viral marketing campaign using social media. And let's say you have some ideas but you're not really sure where to start or what to do. Guess what? You'd better learn more about the subject. And trust me, there are plenty of resources available for this. So yea, instead of hitting the bars a few nights, you might need to burn the midnight oil learning everything you can. But. . .if you're willing to do this, you'll learn some valuable skills and be able to move forward with your marketing campaign on your own. All entrepreneurs are always learning. As long as you're interested in being one of them, you'll do well here.
Think outside the box. Ok..I know that's one of the most cliché things to say these days. But, creative ideas rock. And you'll find they're encouraged in this environment. In business there are no right or wrong answers, there are just different ways to implement ideas. I'll be your guide but I encourage you to think of creative ways to solve problems and help build the business.
What's in it for you?
Well, first and foremost, I happen to have a bunch of free Starbucks coupons. So you'll be able to enjoy all the Starbucks drinks you can take absolutely free. If that's not enough, than this might entice you:
The chance to work here full time and have an ownership position. And I'm not talking about a crappy amount of shares that are basically worthless (like at other startups). Since you're here in the beginning, you'll have a position that could be worth something significant one day.
Killer resume experience- You could take what you'll lear here and be able to parlay it into a great job bringing great ideas to the table. Seriously, be prepared to learn a million real world things in a short period of time.
$50 bucks a week stipend. Yea, I know, you're not going to get rich on this but at least it will pay for your metro card. We usually treat for lunch too.
Our office is located in Chelsea on 27th street between 6th and 7th. We have a few huge windows so the place is bright and there's some good food places nearby, especially good pizza. And two Starbucks a block away for your free frappacinos. We're also close to most subways. As far as amount of hours needed, lets talk. If you're the person we're looking for, we'll make it work.
If you'd like to find out more, definitely email me your resume and I'll call you to set up an interview time. I want to meet you because I don't judge people by a resume. After all, It's just a darn digital piece of paper. So if you send me an email, I'll schedule a time for you to stop by.
Thanks for taking the time to read this whole long ad. I look forward to hearing from you and working with you.
