In home care (Leonard NW Grand Rapids)

About a year back my grandmother had a stroke and we've been trying to afford private in home care for her. Recently however our accounts have been drained and our financial support from the V.A. has not kicked in yet so we have decided to hire nurses threw our own means hoping to cut costs. Currently we are offering $10.00 and hour. You take out your own taxes. Here is the run down of this job offer:

I need a care taker to work along side one other caretaker for my grandma up to 7 nights a week. It's not strictly necessary for all 7 nights but that's what's available. The hours are from 7am- 9am or from 12pm-2pm Monday- Sunday. There may be additional work threw out the week.

The caregiver hired will be responsible for two hours of work for each shift (the specific nights can be discussed at the interview).

During the 7-9 shift you will be getting my grandma up from bed and then transfer her over to the commode via gate belt and then while she's there you will change her into her day clothes.
After this you will need to help prepare her breakfast when you move her into the kitchen. After that if there is time you might need to do a bit of (hand washed) dishes or laundry. If not then simply put her back on the commode and then onto her recliner in the TV room.

During the 12-2 shift you will need to take her to the commode and then help prepare her lunch and then put her back on the commode toward the last half hour of the shift. Like the 7 to 9 shift if there is time you might have to do some (hand washed) dishes or laundry. And then transfer her back into her chair.

If you are wondering YES you might have to wipe her if she has a BM.

Someone who knows range of motion (especially for stroke victims) is a plus but isn't strictly necessary.

My grandma is a very nice person but sometimes she can become depressed because she feels she is a burden so I am looking for someone who can turn her sometimes depressing thoughts into jokes and be upbeat. During the interview I will go more in depth about this.

I also need someone who is fit. We have instances where you may need to transfer her on your own in the event that, for some reason, the other person doesn't show. We try not to make a habit out of this but it has happened before and we don't want someone to get hurt. My grandma is roughly 120 pounds to I want someone who feels that they are physically fit enough for this kind of work.

We are also hoping to find someone who can be on call for our other shifts in the event that someone becomes ill or needs a day off. My dad and I have been covering these shifts but because we are both very busy it's been taking a toll on us. We will discuss this more in depth at the interview. I know I sound repetitive but I know how different everyone's lives can be so we are very flexible as far as that goes.

My grandmothers home is a wonderful place to work, it's mostly quiet and there are no animals to worry for allergies. My grandparents are both nice people but they will expect you to do the work they ask of you which, from what I've heard from our other nurses, is very reasonable. My grandfather is hard of hearing so as long as you speak up he can hear you just fine. My grandmother's hearing is perfect so no worries there.

Please E-Mail me your resume and be sure to include your availability (weekends? Holidays?), past work history as well as any other experience pertaining to these job specifications, your phone number, and a letter telling me why you want/need this job. If you already have a resume prepared feel free to just add these if there are not already specified.

Experience is of course preferred but in no way necessary as I myself am in no way a trained nurses aid and I work this job about 4 to 5 days a week, sometimes by myself.

My main goal is to find someone cheery and upbeat that has a good personality about them and can go with the flow sorta speak.

I do know American Sign Language to if that is your main language I'm sure we could find a way to work things out that way as well However be prepared to work with others who might not know Sign Language.

Startup seeking lead software developer for equity role (Grand Rapids, MI)

Hello! We're an experienced pair of entrepreneurs seeking a third partner for a new start-up venture. Our idea earned 2nd place at a state-wide business plan contest that had over 300 entrants and has been developed with customer input, so we feel confident we're on to something with pretty good potential. Problem is, we're business guys, and we need a software guru to make this idea happen.

While we'll be happy to chat more about the concept in person, the idea is for an online/mobile software platform that can dramatically drive down costs and project timelines in our industry. There's an e-commerce aspect in here, as well -- that is, having users pay money, hold it in escrow, and then pay out (think Elance or oDesk as a reference point). We've got wireframes, sitemaps, design work, and the revenue model figured out. Where we need help, specifically, is with an experienced software developer who "gets" the lean and start-up world, and can help us take this big idea and turn it into something smaller and quicker to program, so we can get it into the market, test it, make adjustments, build, test, adjust (repeat). And, frankly, we need you to do the coding... basic HTML is about the extent of our skill in this area.

After speaking, you might have different suggestions for how to build the software, but some of the skill sets we're thinking that you'll want to be familiar with (or equivalents) include:

Front End Design:
- CSS
- HTML
- JavaScript (jQuery framework)

Back End:
- Ruby / Ruby on Rails
- MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Capistrano / Bundler / RVM
- Note: the back end could go in a completely different direction (e.g. PHP or .NET framework) if you have lots of experience in these areas and it makes sense to do so

Nice to have:
- Unix Admin Skills
- Apache / Nginx

Additionally, as mentioned this is going to have an e-commerce component, so the ideal candidate will have experience with money moving back and forth for transactions... not sure if the ideal solution will be something like PayPal, ACH transactions with a bank, or something else... we'll need to figure this out together.

Finally, PLEASE NOTE that we are looking at this being a "lean" startup. We really believe in the idea. However, we're not planning on going out seeking investors or quitting our current jobs right now. We want to get this out to test on a shoestring budget to minimize everyone's risk. That said, we are anticipating that this Lead Developer role will be set up as an equity partnership. We want everyone to win as the idea does well. So, this is an investment of our time with the intent of the business generating revenue (ideally) in the next 6 months, and then targeting an exit event down the road such as an acquisition. That said, all of us will be likely working on this idea on nights and weekends (i.e. outside the "normal" job), so that needs to be okay with you.

If you think this is something you'd be interested in, we're looking for a long term partnership with the right person, since this might be a 3-5 year (or more) project. Please respond with your resume, cover letter, any relevant work samples you can share, and a couple references (don't worry, we won't call them yet).

We look forward to hearing from you!
