Job Description-Overview :
**This position is a limited appointment with an end date of January 1, 2013 but may be extended based on funding. **

The Department of Vitamins and Carcinogen's has 2 primary goals. The first goal is to understand the role that dietary modulation of the gut microbiome plays in colorectal tumorigenesis, which is conducted from human, animal and cell culture studies. The department's second goal is to understand the importance of the Sfpr1 tumor suppressor gene in the modulation of offspring cancer risk by maternal diet, which is conducted from a mouse study.

The Research Technician/ Senior Research Technician will be responsible for:

Maintaining multiple mouse strains including breeding, feeding and necropsy; Molecular analyses including PCR, RT-PCR, western blotting, IHC, nucleotide purification;Cell culture.

Job Description - Requirements :
Basic Requirements: BS in biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, nutrition or related field. 0-1 years of related work expereicne for a Research Technician, 1+ years of related word expereince for a Sr Research Technician. Experience maintaining mouse colonies. Knowledge of standard molecular biology techniques. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Attention to detail and ability to carefully follow laboratory protocols as well as a strong work ethic are required. Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.

Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of related work expereince.

Special Work Schedule Requirements: Occassional nights and weekends may be required.
